Beginnings

I haven't got a topic in mind yet, but I know I want my project to be

Experience Design based
&
Incorporate Play Theory

Experience Design interests me as it's an emerging field of design, one of those 'new jobs that didn't exist ten years ago'. The freedom of combining many different forms of graphic design in ways that best suit the project means that projects feel more varied. I am interested in the impact that Experience Design can bring to a campaign, and the large amount of force that it has to influence and change people's mindsets. I find it a powerful tool for swaying public opinion, a responsibility as designers that we must not take lightly, and should use to promote healthier and happier societies through education and public discourse.

Play Theory uses the ideas of fun to teach messages, as a form of Experience Design. I am interested in how fun draws people toward an idea and makes them more receptive to take on board the design message that it stems from. I feel that using play in my design outcomes will create a deeper level of engagement with participants, while impacting their mental well-being for the better, making them more likely to be positively impacted by the project and spread the idea with others. I believe that fun and play should not be taken lightly as part of the design toolset, as they are powerful influencers and touchpoints for creating discussion and deeper thinking.
